San Diego Superior Court to Modernize Criminal Case Management System; Planned Outage February 11-16
Several online services will be temporarily impacted during the case management system upgrade process
The San Diego Superior Court is modernizing the case management system for all Criminal cases and the transition is planned to take place over the Presidents’ Day holiday weekend.
Criminal case files will move to the same system that currently holds most other San Diego Superior Court cases. Accordingly, online systems for nearly all case types will be unavailable beginning after the close of business on Wednesday, February 11, through Monday, February 16, 2026, to allow for Criminal cases to be established on the Odyssey case management system.
“We appreciate the public’s patience as we implement this important upgrade to our criminal record-keeping program. This milestone brings us one step closer to transitioning all case types to a unified, modern platform that strengthens the foundation of the court and prepares us for the future,” said Michael Roddy, San Diego Superior Court Executive Officer. “By scheduling the changeover to occur largely during the holiday weekend, we are working to minimize disruption to the public while delivering a system that will improve efficiency, enhance transparency, and expand access to justice for the community.”
The court will be closed to the public on Thursday, February 12, in observance of the Lincoln’s birthday holiday. Although all court locations will be open for business on Friday, February 13, the case management system switch will limit some online and in-person services that are normally available. Most business offices will require filings to be dropped off rather than processed at the counter.
Attorneys and the public are encouraged to avoid visiting the business offices on Friday, February 13, unless necessary, as delays should be expected.
Between close of business on February 11 through February 16, parties may submit filings in Civil, Family, and Probate through one of the court’s approved e-Filing service providers; however, filings may not be reviewed or processed until systems are restored, on or after February 17, 2026.
For those who have filings with statutory deadlines expiring on February 13, 2026, paper filings must be submitted to the appropriate business office, if not e-Filed prior to 6:00 p.m. on February 11, 2026. Mandatory e-Filing requirements in Civil and Probate cases are planned to be suspended on February 13, 2026.
The Online Case Search (Court Index), online Registers of Actions, and online Court Calendar will be available for viewing, however, they will not reflect updates made after the close of business on February 11 until the changeover is complete.
Public access is expected to be restored by Tuesday, February 17, 2026. The only court business day affected by this outage is Friday, February 13, 2026, however, some additional time may be needed to refine processes on the new case management system and some minor delays may be anticipated over the next few weeks.
Additional impacts vary by case type:
Criminal
Online criminal payments will not be available during the changeover. Prosecutors will be able to file criminal cases on Friday, February 13, and the cases will be manually added to the case management system once the changeover is complete.
Civil
Documents may be e-Filed, but may not be processed until on or after February 17, 2026, and will be processed in the order received. Mandatory electronic filing requirements are planned to be suspended on February 13, 2026. The Unlawful Detainer Exhibit Upload Application will be unavailable throughout the changeover. The Motion and Reservation System (MARS) will be offline through February 17, 2026.
Small Claims
All small claims filings will need to be placed in the drop box as hearing dates and notice generation will be unavailable. The Small Claims Exhibit Upload Application will also be unavailable throughout the changeover.

Documents may be e-Filed, but may not be processed until on or after February 17, 2026, and will be processed in the order received. Mandatory e-Filing is planned to be suspended for Friday, February 13, 2026; urgent ex parte matters may be filed as paper filings on this date.
Family
Documents may be e-Filed, but may not be processed until on or after February 17, 2026, and will be processed in the order received. Filings will be accepted at the business offices on Friday, February 13, but may not be processed until on or after February 17, 2026. Domestic Violence Restraining Orders and Emergency Orders will be processed with higher priority. Online copy requests and the Family Exhibit Upload Application will be unavailable after the close of business on February 11, through February 16, 2026.
