Small Claims Imaging

On October 2, 2017, the San Diego Superior Court began the process of moving Small Claims to a paper-on-demand system. All newly-initiated cases assigned to small claims departments are being scanned and stored electronically in the court's case management system.

The official court file will be accessible for viewing on public kiosks in all of the court's business offices and on the Internet through the court's website. The electronic copy of any filed document(s) will be the official court record pursuant to Government Code section 68150. The paper filing will be imaged and held for 30 days. After that time, it will be destroyed and recycled.

Original documents should not be attached to pleadings filed with the San Diego Superior Court. Original documents filed with the court will be imaged and destroyed except those documents specified in California Rules of Court, rule 3.1806.

DO NOT file trial exhibits with the court. Original documents necessary for a motion, hearing, or are being submitted as per the terms of an order granting permission to appear telephonically must be lodged in advance pursuant to California Rules of Court, rule 3.1302(b).
