The Probate Division manages decedents' estates, trusts, guardianship of minors, and conservatorship of adults who are unable to provide for their personal needs or manage their financial resources.

Staff members and courtrooms are located in central San Diego. Click here to view court locations.

The Business Office is open Monday through Friday to assist clients with filings, purchase of forms and packets, viewing of records, depositing of wills, and issuing letters after court approval. Clerical staff also process creditors' claims and discharge petitions. Click here for business hours and location

Probate Examiners review all documents for content and legal requirements before they are acted on by the court at calendared hearings or on ex parte application. Examiners are available to assist applicants with their cases currently pending before the court. Click here for times of availability and location. To contact Probate Examiners by e-mail, click here to view the e-mail instructions.

The Court Investigators interview all persons who are the subject of a petition for conservatorship before the appointment is made, to determine if they understand the proceedings or have any objections. They also interview them periodically after the appointment to determine if they are being cared for properly. They also investigate guardianships of the estate only. Guardianships of the person are investigated by Family Court Services or by Health and Human Services Agency, Guardianship Unit. Click here for information regarding Guardianships.

If you have a hearing scheduled within the next week, you may be able to view the probate examiner's notes online.
