Superior Court of California - County of San Diego: Jury Services: Postponements

Postponements

Sometimes business or personal matters make it impossible to serve on the date shown on your summons. In that case you may ask to postpone your jury service. Give the earliest date you will be able to serve. You can ask to have your jury service postponed by calling (619) 450-5757. Your service may be postponed for up to 6 months for any reason. You can also postpone your service by clicking here.

Reporting Date / 2 Week Option

To make it more convenient for you to serve, you may appear up to two weeks before or up to two weeks after the reporting date on your Summons for Jury Service. Just bring your summons to the Jury Lounge on any Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, or Thursday (excluding court holidays) at the time indicated on your summons.

For those serving in the South County Location, the provision allowing you to appear two weeks before or after your reporting date does not apply.

Juror Rights

The California Labor Code protects jurors. It is against the law to fire or harass an employee who is summoned to serve as a juror. However, you should let your employer know well in advance, as soon as you receive your summons. You should contact the court if you have a problem with your employer because of jury service.
